Man. I know about Flatt's death and how his health declined and all. But reading through that was emotionally *tough*.

Continuing to enjoy. The book keeps the timeline very clear, mentioning months and years often enough you never lose track of when you are. It provides detailed information succinctly, writes highlights to what to listen to in the cuts from each record session, and brings out silly and endearing stories that make these bands and people feel real.

Of course history books and movies made me aware from a young age about the duress of the Great Depression and WWII eras. But every time I read a biography, every time, I feel those hard times all the more intimately. What was normal for so many people was rough living.

Wow. Charlie Monroe is just as wild to read about as his brother Bill. I mean, I caught a helping of that in Tom Ewing's book. But we're getting some major stuff here I didn't know about.

Yeah yeah yeah. I'm trying to clean up my "Currently Reading" list, which inaccurately lists about two dozen books I started yeaaaaars ago and never finished. I plan to quickly read some of those to make that Currently Reading thing shorter..... buuuuut... I also want to get to new books I've recently purchased. I've been itching to read this, so read this NOW I will.
