I thought I was getting bored of the "girl heiress who wants to do everything a guy can do plus have a wild love life" YA trope 30% ago because it was a little slow to start. But dang, it's veering off in an interesting way. Like not drawing out the will-they won't-they, the love interest not being a raging ass who doesn't deserve the MC, and the heiress actually having awesome narration. Politics! Mystery! Mmm.

The beginning of the book is so slow I almost gave up because of not being in the mood for recollected tell-with-some-show, but I knew I loved it for a reason and that reason is the political stuff at the end where you know it's all coming crashing down. Serious Marilia the Warlord vibes, only Elivya's not so martial
