I concur with Coover – "Emma Enters a Sentence of Elizabeth Bishop's" is a bona-fide, goddamn masterpiece and, quite frankly, if Mr Gass had only written this one novella, he would deserve a place in the Pantheon. I read the whole thing in one glorious go, with my mouth open, salivating and drooling amid the great piles of delicious prose. Yummy Yummy in my Tummy….
