Only two stories left. Overall, I would say the earlier tales in the book were my favourites, but even when the mystery content is not so clever, the stories remain effective in their creepiness. However, sometimes the wrap-up doesn’t do justice to what went on before.

One last story...'Case Of The Veil Of Isis'. Overall, I recommend this collection to fans of occult detectives, with most readers perhaps wanting to rip that lemon verbena sprayer out of Klaw's hand by a few stories ago, while yelling "Get a new scent!".

Moris Klaw continues to catnap where murders have taken place...and dream some little thing that helps catch a culprit. The story I just read was not a standout, but at least it was music-themed, and so that was cool. Next - and I can hardly wait - is ‘Case Of The Headless Mummies’. Mummy-themed can be as fun as music-themed, is my feeling.

‘Case Of The Whispering Poplars’ - Isis is away in Paris, while Klaw and Searles descend on The Grove, a haunted house. This was not the best story in this bizarro collection, but it was creepy and fun. Keep dreaming, dream detective, at least for a few more stories!

I just read ‘Case Of The Blue Rajah’ - an okay story (that actually makes me think of the movie Mystery Men; can’t help it).

Just finished ‘Case Of The Ivory Statue’. Moris Klaw is a fun creation, and his dreams definitely help him find solutions.

Enjoyed ‘Case Of The Crusader’s Ax’, but so far, the first story in this book remains the cleverest. Lots more to go, though. I do like Moris and Isis.

Just finished the second tale - ‘Case Of The Postsherd Of Anubis’ - and though it’s early pages, Morris Klaw’s cases are the sort of fantastical escapism I want in a short story collection. And I have the Morrison book for more traditional mysteries. Having a blast with short fictions these days.

I suspect this book will remind me of the Jules de Grandin tales from Seabury Quinn, and August Derleth’s Solar Pons stories.
Anyway, having now read the first story - ‘Case of the Tragedies in the Greek Room’ - I sense that I better be ready for anything.
