“In moody sadness, on the giddy brink,
I see him more with envy than with fear;
He has no nice felicities that shrink
From giant horrors; wildly wandering here,
He seems (uncursed with reason) not to know
The depth or the duration of his woe.”

Proud Maisie is in the wood,
Walking so early;
Sweet Robin sits on the bush,
Singing so rarely.

‘Tell me, thou bonny bird,
When shall I marry me?’ -
‘When six bras gentlemen
Kirkward shall carry ye.’

‘Who makes the bridal bed,
Birdie, say truly?’ -
‘The grey-headed sexton
That delves the grave duly.’
