Maybe more just summaries of stories that you can look up later, horror is definitely sacrificed in the pursuit of quantity. Horror probably isn’t the intention, though there are brief moments that threaten to frighten before ending abruptly. Useful for finding something entertaining/interesting more than being entertaining itself.

I’m getting into the rhythm of this one now, and it’s getting creepier as I look for nothing more than overview in the tales. It’s quick hits that you can look into more, in some cases, while the rest are probably about as much as is known about them. Effective, useful, good for getting you into the horror mood without going all the way.

The pictures are impressive, the stories are kind of catch-all, throw a bunch of words and names and partial undeveloped tales at you. Like a nonfiction survey of various ideas without depth or exploration. And you know they won’t be expanded upon later because the book isn’t long enough.
