Byrhtferð of Ramsey, a monk and scholar. I didn't even know such wonderful characters have left us their writings. More about this monk: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byrht....

Home stretch. Two chapters. Difficulty level has ramped up as basic grammar has given way to pattern discerning.

I'd forgotten about this book for sometime. Best finish it this week. These last few chapters go past basic grammar, to deal with composition and finesse. It's been a good ride and an excellent introduction to Anglo-Saxon.

Quickly drawing to a close. This book has been more a survey of late Anglo-Saxon culture and tradition than a language primer. That certainly makes it a better book and more useful.

It's surprising how easy it becomes to read through large blocks of Old English, with the grammar delivered in small doses. The language hasn't really changed very much.

Still idling with basic grammar, this far in. There must be a steep ramp up at some point.

It's picking up a little bit, finally. This isn't terribly hard at all, once we're past the spelling. English hasn't changed that much.

Slow going. Very slow going. But at least they have reasonable audio resources.
