Many of us do things regrettable and have lead bad consequences. This doesn’t mean, however, that we are irredeemable. As long as we realise we were wrong then, and make an effort to change for the better, it serves as a step of growth for us.
Slughorn’s scene made me sad but admitting he has done damage then was admirable in a way.
