Thinking about: connecting reading and writing, looking for opportunities to study words through writing, the use of reading response journals/notebooks--can easily interfere with reading, but can be a tool for practicing and demonstrating comprehension strategies? Mere uses for read aloud responses, with independent reading by choice. I think.

I like the idea of involving students in the organization of the classroom library. Also that of rotating books in and out to keep the library fresh.
