I'm trying to like this book. I like the story. But I can't get a handle on how old Gavina is supposed to be, if she's able to fool anyone into thinking she's a boy, and the weird details that are thrown in keep throwing me off. Why did there have to be a scene where the pirate yells at someone about a squeaky stair, followed by an explanation of the repairman's peg leg? 🤔
