Micheal was at school when they were told to go outside and burn all non- German books in a bonfire. That's when a truck pulled up with the SS officers instructing the Hitler Youth to get into the back of the truck to go to the outside of Berlin. A British plane had been shot down over German territory and the pilot is on the run. Micheal goes, but instead of hunting the man down he wants to help him.

Micheal and Fritz are becoming closer, Micheal thinks he could glimpse at the map of the jet and get it back to pilot if he gets inside Fritz house. This happens as they train for Hitler initiation. Nights later Micheal's parents host a dinner with Nazis for there job. Micheal thinks about the pilot in the closet and heads back there for his break. When a Nazis walks in the room, Micheal worries he will be caught.

5 W's- Micheal and the rest of the student in the group are told to spread out and search. Micheal and Fritz searched the barn together looking for the British air pilot but not finding anything but large hay barrels. Then they head out farther towards the forest. That's when Micheal saw the drop s of the British mans blood. Micheal called out out that he was headed the opposite direction to throw them off his trail. Micheal and the others started int he other direction when but that's when thing turned the worst. The airman had the same idea as Micheal, Throwing them off track, So Micheal was shocked and scarred when he realized he led the entire group towards the British pilot. He then broke tree limbs to lead them back in the other direction on the hillside. Micheal helped the pilot up and helped him walk with his injuries to the barn. Micheal covered him in the large hay barrels to keep him safe for now. Micheal returned home and told his parents so they could come and get him. They came and then found out he was a JEW! This was even more dangerous than hiding a British, yet they had to do it. They got him him back to their office fixed him up, put him in a closet for protection and gave him food and water. This is how they had to conceal him until they could get him out of Germany.
