This is turning into a 3 star read. The villain, Henri, is one of the lamest villains I've read in awhile. Some parts are pretty cheesy. *sigh. It's a bodice ripper, through and through. But not one of the great ones. A decent one. I have to be in the mood for OTT cheesiness when I read bodice rippers. Coming from My Lord Monleigh..the cheese sticks out even more. I'm in the mood for a solid historical romance.

This is looking to be everything I wanted Fires of Winter by Johanna Lindsay to be. The writing style is so much better, the heroine more likable, and I'm hopeful there will be a coherent plot.

This looks to be a repackaging of Master of Surrender by Karin Tabke. A new title, new cover. I tried to purchase Master of Surrender last year, but it was no longer on Kindle & I actually purchased a pb from ebay. I'm happy to see this on Kindle for only $.99 right now. I like the new cover, the first one was rather terrible imo. So far I just compared the books and I haven't noticed any rewriting from the original
