I enjoyed Jake's recounting of his life before he came to the novel's setting was interesting, and i did chuckle at the euphemisms.
I also enjoyed the interactions and developing relationship between the Gunslinger and Jake.

The gunslinger's meeting with Jake was interesting, showing a different side to the gunslinger. Jake's attempt at recounting his life was also interesting, expanding the world and introducing a mystery.

The gunslinger's confrontation with Sylvia Pittston was a bit of a shocking moment, especially with the result afterwards. His final moments in town were shocking to say the least.
The gunslinger's moments with brown were kind of a reprieve following Tull and helped develop the gunslinger.

I wasn't enjoying the earlier pages. While the setup for the novel was good, i felt the writing style, while detailed, was a bit hard to read. However i do enjoy the gunslingers frequent thoughts on the events, helping shape his character and the world.
However, with the Gunslinger arriving in Tull however, i am finding it easier to remain engaged. In particular, the past actions of the man in black was intriguing.
