So far this reads like a LA Noir novel, which is really confusing since it's set in NJ. I went to the back of the book and looked up the author and sure enough, he's from Los Angeles. The free Amazon books are always hit or miss. I'm going to keep reading because it's like a really bad made for tv movie.
