This book is really a romance disguised as a military sci-fi thriller (how’s that for cross-genre... Kirkus Reviews wrote: “Nyberg displays a remarkable knowledge of life on a submarine in the middle of the 20th century an expertise that lends the swiftly paced action a considerable measure of authenticity.” This is true as well. The author worked overtime to put the reader in the boat -and 1943.
