I think I'm leaning towards liking the narration completely now, particularly as it's faded out more and only comes in at just the right moment. Can't quite decide if this book has a very sincere religious bent or if it's looking at all people very equally, which makes it kind of a fun puzzle as I read. Sugar is by far my favorite character, followed closely by poor Agnes.

Things are getting serious. Agnes remains the most interesting of the characters, and William Rackham is getting back into UGH territory. Sugar is still interesting but she's vastly changed. I sort of miss beginning of the book Sugar.

Starting to sympathize with Agnes more than Sugar - at least, her story is growing more intensely interesting while Sugar's grows more troubling.

Sugar is the best. Such an interesting, layered character, and her relationship with William is getting interesting too. Love watching her rise up in society.

Man this book is intense. I go back and forth about the narration - it's both fascinating and engaging, and sometimes incredibly annoying. And I find myself skimming big portions of the book. Still, Sugar is a fantastic character and I want to know everything there is to know about her.
