Almost done and I'm still laughing at Ryan's audacity and still often admiring the artistic treatment of monstrosity and uberviolence. But the book is really just too rapey for my taste. I guess that's a cliche of prison culture, here taken to an extreme, but it also is a one note gag that is replayed too much in this book. Nevertheless, it's amazing how much variety Ryan is able to pack into a 1000 page fight scene.

Am I too old for this? Too much of an intellectual? Nah. Halfway through this thick comic tome of black-and-white SF uberviolence and kind of loving the hilarious extreme horror and non-stop audacity of it all. I'm new to Johnny Ryan's work, but I love how this is putting me right back into the sketchy mood of the underground zine world, and I'm racing through the book.
