The author's writing is fantastic, and she does a great job of keeping both the past and present storylines interesting. There is minor cursing by one of the present-day characters, but it has only been in one or two chapters of the 21 that I have read so far (just FYI in case that bothers you too much). Additionally, the Jewish history and the philosophical material/questions the book raises are thought-provoking.
