Despite the really bad cover art, this duology resonated within me very much. The author isn't as popular as many YA writers, but all of them together couldn't do what Wolfe does with language. His relatively simple use of words is charged with meaning and the use of old Norse mythology as a fabric on which to paint a hero quest is something I especially enjoyed.
