I feel this taking on an interesting narrative technique. I'm reminded of Stoker's DRACULA. As if this whole story is being narrated BY the protag. However it's so inter-mixed, that it misses the mark. Perhaps used as a framing-sequence and then left to 3rd person... I really didn't want to hark on the POV this much, but, what do you know...

Gilmore Girls was referenced. Beyond awesome.

Coming down from the climax now and things are really rolling. Enjoying it. The clunky-POV is a little less now that everyone is together. Still can't stand Jesse.

It looks now like we have pre-historic Egyptian vampires. Antagonists. Quite imaginative origins. I approve. Apparently this chapter is being told to us by Jordan, but by Jesse as well. Or at least, he's dictating the dram. Oof. Also, an explanation of what's becoming of these five. Here we go.

made it to part two, but it seems far too early for act two. There's only been a hint of an antagonist. The characters are a mixed bag, some of them I like quite a bit, a few of them I know next to nothing about still, and one I positively can't stand (which is worrisome as the narrator is his personal assistant). As for what's going on with each of these people, it looks like clarity is on its way, which is welcome.

introduced to Corin. He and I would get on great: he loves to fly, fine alcohol and a healthy relationship with running. Glenlivet on the rocks, though? Neat, my man. The fact that I want to banter with him, means Tominda does a great job of making these characters enjoyable. Some forward motion on the mystery bubbling beneath.

The reason for first person is obvious. Tominda's strengths lie in her charming inner monologues, as Jesse's musings show in Ch. 2. Not what I normally what I seek in a book, but very convincing in its almost tabloid narration.

I wanted to accept the POV-shifts, but they're rough. Conversational but intelligent tone.
