The only thing keeping me going is imagining Evaline and Mina are hopelessly gay for each other, but considering the lack of tact with gender stuff and pseudo-forced heteronormativity nonsense, I highly doubt their rivalry is based on gay feelings. But then why else would Evaline spend paragraph after paragraph describing Mina's dress????
