I don't think I've ever laughed and cried within two chapters while writing before.

“I believe,” Carter said seriously while nudging me with his foot. “That you owe me an explanation, Ms. James.”
I looked up at his face, eyes watering with laughter, and realized I had nowhere to run.
I was screwed, and not in a good way.

“You made a mistake, Leroy.” He dropped, the pressure I applied to his wrist too much for him to keep standing with.
Normally, I’d just drop his hand and walk away. I hated being touched. Literally every person in my life knew it. My brother told the members of his club not to touch me.
