This is a slight departure from the other books in the Kate Burkholder Amish series in that the Amish have not committed a crime. Instead, in this book, an old friend of Kate’s, Gina Colarosa, is a cop on the run, when an Amish man and his son find her nearly frozen and injured in a snow drift. She claims to being framed by other cops in Columbus, but Kate isn’t sure whether or not she should believe her.
