It is a love story and people often underestimated a love story. I think a novel provides a love story between two people from different race like "Raumanen" is needed to be reprinted today, to block and mock what is called as "localization" based on the fragile "playing victim" : we are from east, you are from west...

This 2006 Metafor edition (okay, there is a new edition published by Gramedia recently) provides an interesting introduction by Pam Allen in which she compare this novel to the booming of Sastra Wangi movement and a preface from Marianne Katoppo.
