This seems like a solid choice as my follow-up read to "Witches, Midwives, and Nurses" as DeLuca is *also* taking on modern and contemporary medicine's systemic sexism, focusing specifically on the mythos surrounding PMS and related "hormonal issues." Really looking forward to this! I started in as I was falling asleep last night, got a few pages into the intro, but I'll need to reread.

Rikki "... Women go to great lengths to prevent leaks because of the social humiliation they can bring. Menstrual products are designed and advertised to maintain secrecy, implying that menstruation is so awful tampons and pads need to be tiny so they can be carried discreetly.

Could the 'Welcome to womanhood' sign be painted any uglier?"

Fewer than 20 pages in and DeLuca is already tearing apart gender socialization and I love it and am so here for it.
