In the movie Sunset Blvd., Joe Gillis says before reading the script, “it’s interesting to see how bad bad writing can be.” It’s not the worst, and the dream sequences are actually quite good, but the concept is definitely better than the execution.

And we're done. Hit or miss writing (that's really bad when it's bad, and only good [not great or superb]) when it's good only carries an interesting story so far, and the rape scene was the final nail in the coffin.
