In the book A Long Walk To Water, Salva, the main character is a brave person. I know this because Salva started to make the trek to water with a gourd on her head. Also even if she saw any type of predator, she would not panic and she would follow the protocol of when you saw a predator. This is how I know that Salva in a long walk to water is a brave person.

The unsympathetic people in A Long Walk To Water are the rebels and the war. The rebels terrorized everyone in salva's village and killed them too. Also whenever Salva hears gunshots she has flashbacks of when she ran away from her village because of the rebels. This is how I know that the rebels and the war are the unsympathetic people in A Long Walk To Water.

The antagonist in a long walk to water is nature. I know this because the land surrounding the refugee camp is scarce in the ways of food and water. the men in the camp would go on little missions to find food and the women would take water gourds and walk miles to get water. if the men came back with food it would be rationed throughout the camp. Therefore nature is so harsh to them so nature is the antagonist.

The setting of the book takes place in the Itang Refugee camp in Southern Sudan in 1985. I know this because inside the cover there is a map of their route through South Africa and it starts in Southern Sudan. Also because they talk about the hardships of living in a refugee camp and in school one day they heard gunshots in the distance and ducked for cover. This is how I know the book takes place in South Africa.
