I don't think it was the best idea to show and describe the mermaids in every detail right in the beginning, because I'm now on the moment when Tory makes this big discovery about dead voices and it has no wow factor for me, because I already know this from page one (or five, whatever), so right now, I'm waiting for characters to catch up to ME.

I'm a total dum-dum because only now it occured to me that maybe the short story/novella was actually first (it was but I got confused by the "0,5" bc experience tells me it's usually used for books written as prequels) and it'd be better to start with it. Oh well.
