There are several racist remarks made. I stopped reading after page 103 where Esther says that people from Peru are “Ugly as Aztecs.” Indigenous people being regarded as ugly or inhuman is a common theme that I’ve been aware of since I could speak. I was shaking and disappointed when I saw those racist words that get swept under the rug of our society that seems so progressive now.
