So far, the book has been somewhat relatable. I was introduced to Julia, her mom, Amá, her dad, Apá, and to some extent, her best friend, Lorena. We also met her English teacher and favorite teacher, Mr. Ingman, and her Math teacher and most hated teacher, Mr. Simmons. At the beginning of the book we find that her sister Olga died recently. Next, we learn about Julia's relationship with her mother.
