D&C 98: Afflictions of the saints shall be for their good; the saints are to befriend the constitutional law of the land; honest, wise, and good men should be supported for secular offices; those who lay down their lives in the Lord's case shall have eternal life; renounce war and proclaim peace; war is justified only when the Lord commands it.
