This is one of those books that I'm going to finish out of sheer petulance and stubbornness. The narrator is gratingly annoying, which is actually great because he's written to be that way, and there are several levels of character traits that push through in the way he narrates, but maybe I'm a literary pleb because even though it's high-level technical skill on the author's part, this book is stupid pretentious

...(which is exponentially annoying because that's the way it's supposed to read. It's like you can't have criticism of it because that's exactly what the author was going for. F$@&.)
