I think this is the first book I've ever read where 10% in, we still haven't met either protagonist. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but I'm just surprised. It's dragging for me a tiny bit, but that could just be because I'm not used to historical books. I'm interested to see where it goes from here and how it changes from the introduction of the heroine.

Zoe Ah, I stand corrected. Apparently the male lead has made an appearance (I was thrown off because they're first cousins, but this *is* historical romance...), but I do think it's rare to get 10% into a book without the protagonist (who in this case is the female lead) making an appearance. The book has definitely picked up for me and flowed better since she arrived.
