I'll give it 3.5 stars mostly because I know how much better her later books get! This is a stong debut and she remains one of my favorite authors. Because I've read many of the later books the suspense in this story was minimal. It is perhaps too graphic but the mystery is a good one. To her credit, she writes a great story, yet she hasn't even introduced some of her best characters yet to come .
