So part way through, I was thinking that this was a lot like Stephen King, but better. It turns out this is written be Stephen King's son. If you like Stephen King to you'll like this. If you don't like Stephen King, I would pass.
King is hit and miss for me too. This is a dark book, but I wouldn't say it's terrifying. I really don't know what to compare it to. Just know it's dark and pretty Stephen Kingish.
