"(...) Love lacks a poet like Homer who can demonstrate his tenderness, as Homer does for Ate when he says that she is both a goddess¹¹⁸ and tender - or at least her feet are tender:
Tender are her feet, but not on the ground does she set them,
But stepping on the heads of men she makes her way."
¹¹⁸ Ate means 'Infatuation', the divine personification of delusion.
