As much as I wanna focus on her relationship with her mother ; the character and her obsession with America, and her husband's accent, their club membership is keeping me far from it.
Pune (except for her wonderful and rustic looking rich club) being described as pungent, noisy and smelly in every single chapter has done nothing more than strengthen my dislike for NRI authors who haven't actually lived in India.

I gave up last time when I was 150 pages in. This time, I am determined to absorb as much from it as possible. The author's efforts to portray transient, childish resentfulness that the protagonist has paid off so far. I really like the stream of consciousness narration the book has. It's different in a way because of the clear difference in tone of the narrator when she discusses her mom and her husband.
