The writing style loosened up a bit. Puzzling editorial decisions still abound. Endless blockquotes adulating Davies and his positions, but very little of the same when examining his human interactions while courting his wife, or with his opponents?

Five chapters in. My father's perplexing affinity for passive-voice sentence structure makes this a much drier read than any volume covering the Great Awakening deserves to be.

Also, I had NO IDEA that Aaron Burr's grandfather was Jonathan Edwards. "My grandfather was a fire-and-brimstone preacher", indeed.
