faust gets to go to heaven because his "striving never ceased", even though he was mostly thriving to fuck women. sure, he tries to drain a swamp and keep some people from getting sick... but he causes the death of a bunch of innocents in the process. and before that he causes gretchen to be executed and helen to commit suicide. but sure, faust belongs in heaven :/
