In 1789 George Washington, while standing on the balcony of Federal Hall on Wall Street in New York, took his oath of office as the first President of the United States. This book starts in November 1845. When I realized all that happened in the years between 1789 and 1845, it amazed me. The history that Mr. Dickey fills the pages of this book with is fascinating. If you love history, I recommend you read this book.

I didn't think I would like this book,
I was wrong.
It is amazing, yes..... amazing.
Historically accurate (I am a stickler about historical accuracy), excellent accented dialogue, and true-to-life characters.
This book grabbed me from the first chapter.
Mr. Dickey and I have to have a talk about chapter 4 though.
I am on chapter 18, but I am still upset about what happened to Magpie in chapter 4.......
