For now there is no difficult in comprehending the story! It seems to me that the book is a look at structural racism in England, and its impacts both on services providing protection, care and well-being to children, as well as on the social structure. Mr. Braithwaite himself confessed to having hated whites in the past, and is a victim of constant racial discrimination, as well as everyone around him.

The story has developed a little bit further, as we are able to see Mr. Braithwaite's difficulties in finding families for "coloured" children, as he calls them. The difficulties are either institutional or originated from the prejudice of the English society at the time. The bus scene in Chapter 4 will be one of the biggest moments that I will remeber from the book. it provides aninteresting discussion about racism.
