Hrm. Did this story need William? This one opened with a suicide attempt and is closing with a sexual assault and... I'm struggling.

Hrm. So, all in all, I liked this, but I feel like the William sub-plot could have happily had a major reduction in severity (the assault scene, especially), or been more or less removed. I'll need to ruminate on this one a bit.

Oof. This one starts heavily on the dark/depressing/hopeless.
This is why I so often stay away from historicals with queer characters. The balance between hope/joy and "well, we were illegal" is definitely not an easy line to walk.

Had to adjust the narrator to x1.5 speed because holy crap this man is speaking so, so slowly. At x1.5 speed it’s pretty much the normal discussion speed. Oof.
