Whenever these things come up on the news, the almost immediate reaction is to downplay the situation. To find the inconsistencies. To wonder how men will be impacted if we just all start believing women when they say they've been hurt or afraid.

Sometimes I think he expected us to have the same experience he did growing up here. Which just wasn't gonna happen.

What is the weight of a word? Maybe it's in ink and paper. Maybe it's measured by the harm it causes. Especially the ones said out loud, in anger.

Here they label ignorance as tradition and carry on as though they've earned the right to be cruel.
