[Cont.] "And I leapt at the latter like a trout to a fly. But each deed you do, each act, binds you to itself and to its consequences, and makes you act again and yet again. Then very seldom do you come upon a space, a time like this, between act and act, when you may stop and simply be. And wonder who, after all, you are." I'm so proud and fond of this man he has come so far someone hand me a kleenex pls

ALSO! Love how much Arren is looking up to Ged, so much that the boy is baffled at how such a successful mage, who speaks the language of dragons and has achieved feats no other mage has come close to achieving, would wonder who he is. what a tall pedestal (though valid, worth pointing out how tall nonetheless).

Im floored with how much Ged has grown from book 1 to where we're at now, when he's older and much much wiser; he's seen so much of the world and overcome so much in his life, that he has at last earned the sagacity to drop lines like: "Try to choose carefully, Arren, when great choices must be made. When I was young, I had to choose between the life of being and the life of doing. [Cont.]"

It wasn't until a couple years ago when I learned how big of an influence Ursula Le Guin had on Rick Riordan's works, and i think it is in this book that the origins of the ominous prophecy and the power of names (both of which are distinct in Riordan's works) are made even more apparent on the page
