Well.... my impression so far is that I wish Shonda Rhimes had edited the books. She adds a certain something to the Netflix series that is sorely missing in the book. I'm still less than halfway done but considering a DNF for this.

I’m reading this book next for a book club read on FB!! I can’t wait to read it!! I love historical fiction romance! I’m not going to watch the show until I read the books! Right now I’m 75% through a book I tried hard to finish in 2020, A Holiday By Gaslight, a historical fiction Christmas romance! I guess The Duke and I will be my second read of 2021! So excited to read it!!

I read this book approximately one year before the Bridgerton series was announced. And while watching the show I didn't remember anything from the book except for Lady Danbury. However I do recommend the newer Bridgerton books called the Rokesby series.
I considered not reading beyond the first book, since I wasn't that impressed. The show looked amazing and I really wanted to read the other books before watching it. I'm glad I did, because some of the books in the series are quite good.
