I wanted to get one more book finished before my long break ends, so a graphic novel seemed like a good idea. Apparently this is the first in a series, but it feels like a least the second since it took a bit longer than I expected for the premise to be explained, and I still don't know if Mal can understand animals or if Chad knows how to talk (it's more than likely not Mal imagining their conversations).
