First part captures midlife crisis anxiety perfectly. The ensuing drama in Berlin is well crafted to create an atmosphere of paranoia, as well as “a total nightmare” with a character called Edgar- a boorish, rude, nasty academic that is well written and perhaps one we’ve all known at dinner parties among the chattering classes.
