This book is a very poor translation to English so there’s a fair number of sentences where I have to guess the meaning. It’s a shame too, because the author is very thorough and I’ve already learned a lot I didn’t know about watercolor materials. For example, I learned chlorinated tap water can dull watercolors; but distilled water can reduce the granulation of granulating pigments. Very useful info.

I thought I knew all the basics of color theory (primary, tertiary, hue, value, etc.) but the bit on subtractive and additive colors is pretty interesting. And the detailed instructions on how to paint a color wheel are helpful too. I’ve read tutorials and heard teachers explain how to paint a color wheel but I never quite got them right. I think I will now though.
