Okay, so an update. I've just been hired by MEAG Power to monitor transmission cables and MVA output of their transformers. Feeling pretty good. I'm studying power electronics, calculus 3, semi-conductor devices as well as doing research for my professor on a multilevel HBridge power inverter with control signals ran by an FPGA chip. I'm not going to lie, I hope I haven't taken on too much.
