“This is what I've found about life, as I've gotten older: you start to lose people, Angela. It's not that there is ever a shortage of people - oh, heavens no. It is merely that - as the years pass - there comes to be a shortage of your people. The ones you loved. The ones who knew the people that you both loved. The ones who know your whole history."

I was utterly surprised - I don't know if what happened around chapter 22 was supposed to come across as that way or just be a major cornerstone but I felt the whole tone of the book change. Before that, I was laughing pretty hard at some parts and then it came down to a lot of life lessons. Not bad at all, just unexpected for me. What about you?

Sierra I agree that the toned definitely changed, and I think the story got a little slow (when she moved back home) and a became a bit of a slog, but it's picking up again in Ch 27 :)
